                      The accretion onto compact systems can be roughly classified into two types, depending on the gas temperature. One is cold thus emits thermal radiation, and the other is hot thus radiates non-thermal emission. The hot accretion flow (HAF; conventionally also named advection-dominated accretion flow) has been well established in black hole (BH) X-ray binaries and AGNs. Here in this talk, I will first provide a brief description of this theory, and its applications (successes). Then, I will discuss the consequence and importance of accumulation of magnetic fields near BH, where a so-called magnetized arrested disk (MAD) will be developed. I will also highlight several new observations in this field, i.e. the temperature of HAF, the hybrid radio/X-ray correlation, and the outer radius of HAF. Some of them agree with this model, while others challenge it.

                      報告人簡介:  Prof. Fu-Guo Xie got his batchers degree in University of Sci. and Tech. of China (USTC) in 2004, and PhD in Shanghai Astronomical Observatory (SHAO) in 2009. From 2009 to 2011, he was an institute postdoc at Kavli institute for Astro. and Astroph. of PKU (KIAA). Afterwards, he joined SHAO. He is now is a tenured research professor and the deputy director of the Astrophysics Division. He was selected to be a member of the Youth Innovation and Promotion Association of CAS. His main research interests are the accretion theory and its application in low-luminosity AGNs and BH binaries. Recently, he is also involved in the SKA-related sciences, with an emphasis on the AGN feedback process.
